Across the native land of the Revivalists

The cycling route across Ostrovec to Cerhonice, Mirotice, Lom, further to Myštice at Labuť Pond (3 km long) and then to Čimelice (either along the cycle path across Pohoří, or by a slightly more "cross-country" short-cut across the U Nováka) then from there back to Varvažov (for example across Větrov, Vrábsko, Podelhota and further along the blue-marked tourist path, which gets a bit bumpy when approaching its end) is very nice. Apart from the fact that this trip offers a number of pleasant vistas from the smaller ridges of the hills, from where you can see the whole area, you can also visit a number of sights. Cerhonice was the birthplace of the famous Czech dramatist, Ladislav Stroupežnický. (This village is referred to as Honice – the venue of "Naši furianti realistic play.)

Here you can visit the Furiant Pub (and after your return home you may try to watch the – surprisingly unavailable – movie called Furiant inspired by the wild youth of Stroupežnický). As for Mirotice, the birthplace of Mikoláš Aleš, just check the link "Upstream of the Lomnice River – Mirotice“. Myštice, especially known for its old Labuť Pond established at the end of the 15th century by Zdeněk Lev z Rožmitálu, is located on the historical crossroads of five important roads (including the salt road from Salzburg). The big U Labutě Inn, which has been serving travellers by these days, is an attractive memorial to its historical importance.
