There is a number of interesting sights in the area that can be visited by car. In addition to the beautiful town of Písek with the oldest bridge in our country, Milevsko is another point of interest with its originally Romanesque Premonstratensian monastery providing an interesting sight-seeing tour.. While on the road to Písek, you can also visit nearby Putim or – on the way from Varvažov – stop in at Čížová with its pretty view of the landscape. There is another – less known – place worth visiting near Čížová, which is interesting both for families with children and other visitors: the properly managed animal rescue station in Makov.
If you are fond of boat trips, there are several options at the nearby Orlík water reservoir. The tour, including the visit to two major historical monuments in the area – Zvíkov and Orlík castles, is one of the most popular ones. “The Calamity Jane Ranch” in nearby Probulov (just about 7 km away from Varvažov) is the right place to visit for lovers of horse riding and horses in general. The visit to this place is also suitable for families with children.
